The majority of my life I have worked in customer service and restaurant industries. I love being of service to others and wanted to take it a step further by obtaining a bachelors degree in Plant Biology. I have great interest in identifying and treating seed borne fungal pathogens and have performed some work in this area the Pulse Crops lab at Montana State University. In pursuance of my bachelors degree at Montana State University, I attended plant pathology courses as well as organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics, ethics in science, microbiology, plant ecology and horticulture classes. I have worked for 3 separate laboratories on campus to gain experience in multiple fields of study. The first involved harvesting and threshing winter wheat. The second consisted of work with the Sawfly laboratory, splicing wheat stems to look for and draw conclusions about Sawfly evidence. And lastly the Pulse Crops laboratory involved more hands on experimentation and time to discern if pulse crops contained seed borne fungal pathogens. Completion of the Plant Biology BS required fulfillment of a research core. To receive credit, I conducted a fungicide resistance experiment with multiple commonly used fungicides to different Ascochyta strains. A report was written on the results. It is my hope that I will soon be able to put the knowledge and experience learned to good use and be of service to others.
