About Jessica Evans

I am an environmental policy professional with a passion for environmental justice, public health, urban sustainability, and drinking, waste, and stormwater infrastructure. I specialize in integrating policymaking with scientific research and bring an interdisciplinary perspective to my work. I currently serve as the Senior Manager of Government Affairs and Sustainability policy at the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), where I implement advocacy strategies related to climate change resilience, sustainable financing, environmental justice, water affordability, and more. I also help utility leaders advance sustainable and equitable practices by developing research projects, publications, and member networking webinars and opportunities on actionable climate science and best management practices.Prior to that, I worked as project management specialist at Indiana University's School of Public Health overseeing various environmental health projects involving public stakeholders and community volunteers. I have conducted research on a variety of integrative environmental issues, including risk assessment of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in private drinking wells, an international plan to improve indoor air quality, public health communication regarding drinking water contaminants in the United States, and risk assessment of lead in urban homes.I am skilled in research, community engagement, project management, event planning and management, risk communication, data analysis, marketing, and writing. I thrive in a work environment where I am given responsibility and freedom to be innovative. I excel in roles where I am able to meet the needs of teammates, stakeholders, and coalition partners. I hold a Master of Public Affairs specializing in environmental policy and a Master of Science in environmental science from Indiana University's O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. I hold a Bachelor of Science in biology and environmental science and policy from the College of William and Mary.
