My key duties within this role are • Attending to practical matters within the home (cooking, cleaning etc).• Building positive relationships with young people, supporting them to build self esteem and confidence and overcome trauma.• Acting as a role model and demonstrating appropriate pro social ways of dealing with problems.• Helping young people gain self control by challenging unacceptable behaviours and rewarding acceptable behaviours.• Ensuring each young person's care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their needs.• To undertake sleep in duties in accordance with the homes rota.• To maintain all records in accordance with company policy, regulations and statutory requirementsWithin this role, I have worked both independently and as a team in order to develop a confident and safe environment for young people within the residency. As a room leader I ensured the room was ran smoothly, following the routine and delegating staff to meet the needs of the children adapting activities and resources to do so. Communication and organisation are highly important when working as a team allowing practitioners to develop the children’s learning.My SEND role is to review the children’s tracking every 12 weeks to ensure they are meeting their age development stage within the EYFS. I work closely with children under SENDCO whilst liaising with parents, practitioners and any other agencies to meet their needs, allowing the support to be given at Nursery and home. I regularly hold PCP meetings regarding children and work closely with Health Visitors in order for the best future for each child.As an assistant deputy manager, I liaise with the manager to ensure policies and procedures are followed and met. I am responsible of opening and locking up the building being a key holder, ensuring security is maintained at all times. Within my role I answer the phone and reply to any emails, show new parents around the Nursery and deal with any compliments or complaints, as well as completing the weekly deployment of staff and rotas. I complete peer on peer observations and hold meetings with the manager such as supervisions.Within the role of a designated safeguard lead, I work alongside my manager to ensure both staff and children are safeguarded, and any raised concerns are dealt with quickly and effectively. I work closely with professionals attending core group meetings and conferences regarding children and their families. I also attend PEP meetings for looked after children.
