My background includes having a Bachelor of Science degree in public and community health in 2016. I am currently finishing my master’s degree in healthcare administration at Des Moines University and I just finished the program in May of 2023. Having my bachelors in public and community health helped show me that there are many communities that need assistance in overcoming disparities. I want to be able to help by creating programs or working with organizations to help mend those disparities in certain communities. I pursued getting my masters in healthcare administration so that I can be an asset to any organization to help operations run smoothly. With my personality and drive I make it a point to whomever I am working with, whether its clients, patients, or administrators, that after dealing with me they have a sense of direction and more knowledge on how they can overcome their situation.“Knowledge is power.” When we heard this expression when we are younger it may sound pretty cliché. Little do we know the true power this statement holds. This statement is one of my mottos. With knowledge comes the power of opportunity. Yes, this opportunity can help oneself create more opportunities for themselves, but it is also an opportunity to help others. We all go through different life experiences to get us to where we are today, this life experience becomes our testimony. It is up to us to give our testimony to others by spreading the knowledge of what we learned in hopes of helping others in their life experiences.I had to create my own opportunities by gaining more knowledge with my education. I have many different life, work, and education experiences that helped me throughout my career to better assist others. It allowed me to develop empathy when working with people, which I think is key in healthcare. I am a determined, resilient hard worker who is passionate about overcoming obstacles. Not just overcoming obstacles for myself, but for those I serve. When someone is going through life, they may feel like many curveballs are being thrown at them. I like to say to my children and others that even though life throws many things at you, you can catch it, or even drop it, but you can pick the ball up and throw it back however you want.
