Like most high school graduates I knew in 2005, I attended college immediately. From a young age I was told that's what you do, especially if you want a shot at any kind of success. I studied Elementary Education, thinking the classroom environment would be a great fit. Three years later, after countless hours in elementary schools, I realized it was simply not my passion. In the midst of this decision, I became a mother to two girls within two years. This major life change left me with every excuse as to why I couldn't further my education toward a field that actually interested me. In 2013, I came to the realization that I had to do something for myself.I enlisted in the Army in March of 2014 as a Transportation Management Coordinator. Admittedly, I didn't know much about the job but it ended up being one of the best decisions I ever made. This decision ultimately gave me the ability to support myself and my children while simultaneously finding my passion for the logistics field.During my Army career, I have had the opportunity to move personnel and equipment by all modes of transportation on a global scale. I have honed my skills as a leader, a strategic thinker and a problem solver. I have consistently been forced out of my comfort zone and gained the ability to communicate confidently and clearly. I completed my Bachelor's of Business in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in December of 2021, one month after welcoming my third daughter into the world. That milestone was ultimately what led me to decide to say goodbye to the Army and explore civilian logistics as a career.
