Drive research inquiry in Healing Centered Restorative Engagement (a combination of Restorative Practices and Trauma-Informed Care approaches) to enhance relationships, inclusion, and economic opportunity for Detroit youths and adults. Projects include:• Examination of trauma and toxic stress exposure among in-school and out-of-school youth participating in the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates program in Detroit.• Investigated secondary trauma exposure among coaches, intake workers, and administrators in the Economic Development program at United Way for Southeastern Michigan. • Building community networks to support research and practice in trauma-informed care and restorative practices. • Completed grant requests and letters of inquiry to Michigan Health Endowment Fund, McGregor Fund, William T. Grant Foundation, and more. • Received grant funding to perform community-engaged research and training.

Created dynamic curriculum and learning activities for a variety of 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, and 800 level courses including:• Quantitative Research and Statistics, Research Methods in Health and Human Services, Introduction to Quantitative Research, Introduction to Social Work, Quantitative Research, and Theories and Practices of Social Work.• Taught two to three courses per semester serving a range of 30 to 40 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. Supported approximately 90 to 110 students per semester.

Taught two courses per semester including 200 and 400 level courses such as:• Advanced Topics in Social Work Research Methods, Introduction to Quantitative and Qualitative Data Analysis, Integrative Seminar in Social Work, and Social Work Research Methods.• Collaborated with the program chair to create Social Justice and Diversity curriculum.• Chair of evaluation, assessment, and reaccreditation.• Lead professor of statistics and research methodology.

Contributed to four research projects dealing with survivors of sexual assault, aging and end of life, and economic inequalities. Investigated many specific topics such as help-seeking behaviors among assault survivors, inequalities in health care, economic wellbeing, social disparities.• Developed expertise in study methods, data analysis, reporting, and overall program management.

Conducted secondary data analysis of 1996-2011 Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) for dissertation under advisor Dr. Eileen Trzcinski. • Explored the intersection of disability, race, and gender on economic and labor market inequality in the United States.

Worked with Dr. Faith Hopp on research focused on aging, end-of-life, and heart failure. Special focus was given to inequalities experienced by African American heart failure patients and their caregivers in the Wayne County/ Detroit area.Performed one-on-one interviews with social workers in the Wayne County/ Detroit area to investigate their role with heart failure patients. Became proficient in the utilization of Atlas.ti to manage and analyze qualitative data. Performed several presentations on heart failure and aging issues in the Detroit area. Performed several presentations on how to use Atlas.ti to code data and pull themes from qualitative data. Responsible for qualitative and quantitative data collection and management. Assisted in literature searches, writing manuscripts, editing manuscripts and submitting publications. Assisted in class preparation and lectures.

Worked with Dr. Patterson & Dr. Kernsmith on research for survivors of sexual assault. Participated in the Wayne County Alliance for Sexual Assault.Assisted with test waiver administration for Master's level students.Assisted with supportive tasks for research projects. Used Zoomerang and Facebook to help design and administer online surveys.Was responsible for data collection, data cleaning, and organization for statistical analysis.
