Spent 18 years in the field as a firefighter paramedic until transferred to Public Service Communications Center 2006 where I am currently assigned. In my current position I supervise the dispatch of Fire Rescue emergency and non emergency calls, field in coming non emergency calls, and administrative calls from the public. As dispatch supervisor I am responsible for ensuring dispatching the correct units to the correct location, provide additional resources for units responding and on the scene of emergency incidents. I have assisted in the training of new call takers and dispatchers over the last 14 years and have been a preceptor for new candidates to the PSCC. In addition to working at PSCC I’ve worked on other department projects such as Covid vaccination clinic during the pandemic, interview panel for new hires, radio operations support for special events such as County Fair and promotional exams.

I currently work PRN in the Cath Lab Holding Area caring for the pre and post clients undergoing cardiac procedures and interventional radiology procedures. Duties include confirmation of scheduled procedure, review of clients medical history, daily medications and allergies. Teaching and Informing of procedures and review of the recovery process and any physical restrictions. Initiation of IV's via peripherally or access of med ports or PICC lines. Administration of medications as ordered by physicians and or NP's, EKG, interpret lab values and report critical values to the health care team. Assist in procedures such as cardioversions, TEE, tilt tables, insertion of loop recorders. Ensure patient teaching is understood by the patient and family/ caregiver and encourage questions on post care.

ED Case Management Nurses play a critical role in ensuring ED clients are receiving the right care, the right resources at the right level of care. I am fortunate to be working with such a gifted and talented number of people. I hope to learn all I can from everyone to provide the best appropriate care to our clients.
