Joined internal audit to learn how different businesses within Walmart operate and prioritize their business initiatives with the goal to become more of a "generalist." Selected to lead the external reporting team at Walmart where I had an opportunity to interpret and analyze Walmart's consolidated financial results and partner with investor relations where I contributed to messaging results to the Street while also ensuring compliance to SEC regulations. This role required working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment alongside officers and executives.• Actively led a team of 5 associates through the Company's quarterly earnings and 10-Q/K cycles • Collaborated with Investor Relations and other internal business partners to identify and support all earnings messages (release, presentation, scripts, etc). This often required quick turnaround and adaptability to ever-changing messages and disclosures.• Led disclosure committee meetings and prepared other executive level presentations, including materials for the audit committee quarterly. • Responsible for preparing EPS and appropriate adjustments to Adjusted EPS for the Company and disclosing the same.• Proactively and frequently interacted with controllership segment teams to understand financial transactions impacting financial reporting disclosures.• Actively researched competitor disclosures and SEC comment letters to assess, communicate and reduce financial reporting risk at Walmart. • Developed a strong sense of urgency, agility and cross-functional collaboration to ensure deadlines were met and leaders were aware of significant judgments.• Developed, with partnership from my team, a digital financial reporting package powered by PowerBI, which created additional insights to the Chief Accounting Officer & Assistant Controller. This led to more meaningful discussions of our financial results and additional insights to leaders (before this information was difficult to obtain and time-consuming to prepare).

Led global accounting policy and technical accounting related projects by monitoring GAAP, IFRS, and SEC rule-making to assess the impact on the company and related accounting policies including drafting formal summaries of these considerations for distribution to the Audit Committee.Developed and maintained global US GAAP and IFRS accounting policies. o Solicited feedback and challenged the status-quo from key stakeholders to develop a roadmap for the future and ensure policies meet the objectives of both finance and Controllership leaders. o Developed updated methodology of preparing/drafting/issuing policies using feedback from key stakeholders which made accounting policies more useable, easier to read, and easier to apply. This led to the creation of videos, more visuals & high-level overviews of accounting policies. o Collaborated with stakeholders to identify how policies would impact business decisions and/or financial results and work to align both business objectives and technical rules in final accounting policies.Provided direction & technical guidance to segment Controllership teams and international markets to ensure consistency of the global interpretation and application of accounting policies.Actively supported two team members (senior managers) in achieving both their personal, team and professional goals.

As the Director of Accounting Policy at Hines, I led an intimate group of professionals in setting Hines standard accounting policies. I consulted on numerous technical accounting issues across the U.S. and international markets, drafted memos and prepared white papers. I was also responsible for developing training materials and teaching various accounting topics to all accounting personnel across the firm which required travel and collaboration among regional teams.

Demonstrated professional growth by starting as a senior accountant in 2011 over two public real estate investment trusts and ultimately promoted to Controller over Hines Global Income Trust, Inc. (“Hines Global”) in 2014 and took on additional responsibilities as Director of Accounting Policy in 2017. Collaborated with executive management and SEC counsel to ideate and develop a product that would meet Hines’ business and financial goals in a changing real estate & regulatory environment which led to the creation of Hines Global Income Trust. Significant contributor to the creation of the company prospectus and responsible for hiring and building out a team of 5 associates, developing systems and controls for Hines Global and all aspects of accounting including consolidation, treasury & corporate functions, as well as SEC reporting & investor relations, for over $670 million in assets.

Prior to my Controller role with Hines Global (2011-2014), I was a project accountant and senior project accountant that participated in all aspects of accounting and SEC reporting over two real estate investment trusts, each with $3 billion to $5 billion in assets at the time.

Senior accountant on various clients within the manufacturing & distribution niche, real estate niche, not-for profit niche and employee benefit plans. Duties include: assessing critical financial statement risk areas during the planning phase of the audit, supervising and managing staff, delegating responsibilities, substantively and analytically testing financial statement accounts, managing inventory counts, reviewing staff work papers, meeting strict deadlines, and drafting the financial statements and related footnotes.
