Leading a team of people to develop the policy and legislation for the new National Planning Framework as part of the resource management reforms.

The National Direction Team co-ordinates national direction across the resource management system, and supports the implementation of the first set of National Planning Standards. This included providing strategic and expert advice to project teams on the development, implementation and monitoring of National Direction, including how existing tools were developed and are being implemented. Undertake system thinking, and connecting the system as a whole, including the role of National Direction in a new Resource Management System.

At the Ministry for the Environment, we want to partner with our stakeholders to create meaningful relationships. This means we can provide the best advice and deliver our projects successfully. As a Regional Relationship Manager, I helped to ensure that we engaged early, kept relationships going, even when there were no specific projects happening, and made sure to make the most of all engagement opportunities.Key stakeholders I engaged with included infrastructure providers, and councils within the Northland, Auckland and the Waikato regions.

Negotiated, drafted and case managed delivery of the first single State Planning Policy (SPP) for Queensland. Provision of training and advice in the implementation of the SPP in local plans and development assessment decisions. The Single SPP aimed to simplify and clarify the State's interests in the planning and development system by replacing the current individual state planning policies, with one single, comprehensive policy. The Single SPP was a key framework of the State Government's planning reform in Queensland, which together with the introduction of the State Assessment and Referral Agency, was intended to lead to greater certainty, fewer unnecessary delays and better planning outcomes (encourage flexible, innovative and locally appropriate approaches to planning).Worked to deliver the reform of the local government infrastructure planning and charges framework, to facilitate development and investment in Queensland, while enhancing the clarity, equity and consistency of the charges system. This included supporting councils in the development of Priority Infrastructure Plans (PIPs); reviewing the PIPs and progressing them through the Ministerial approval process.
