In this role, I harness real-time data for assessing the effectiveness of engagement strategies, applying both rapid-cycle field experiments and quasi-experimental designs. Additionally, I supervise and mentor a rotating team of 7 to 10 trainee analysts in executing such studies to derive actionable insights. I have contributed to the Platform team for several years in this capacity which has provided me with unique skills, experiences, and trade secrets regarding what works for improving relationships between researchers and policymakers.On top of my analytic role, I also support the direct policy engagement work of our implementation team, leading efforts in a handful of states in the Western U.S..

In this role, I (1) supported analytic capacity across the team (e.g., designing experiments, conducting and reporting analysis), (2) enhanced researcher engagement using a CQI approach, and (3) maintained partnerships with related organizations. During this time, I managed a team of about 5 data trainees.

Supported the implementation and scale-up of the SciComm Optimizer for Policy Engagement (SCOPE) model, which sought to increase the reach of science among policymaking audiences.

In this role, I designed a large-scale citizen science project to understand the spread and density of tobacco product waste (e.g., cigarette butts, vape cartridges, rolling papers) across neighborhoods in San Diego County. This project relied heavily on GIS technology.I also provided statistic analytic support across the team on a variety of projects (e.g., impact of a longitudinal Facebook ad campaign on users’ awareness about environmental tobacco smoke; reliability and validity of surveys regarding attitudes, behaviors, and policies regarding environmental tobacco smoke).

Teaching Assistant for Introductory Psychology Statistics. I taught the lab section for this course, lecturing about statistical theory and tests and demonstrating SPSS functions. Additionally, I graded weekly homeworks, hosted office hours, and proctored and graded exams.
