I manage an Assisted Living home in Holmen, Wisconsin. In my position I have been given an opportunity to work not only with my peers, but with the generations that have come before me. When starting my position I thought of it as an opportunity to enrich the lives of the people in my grandmothers generation; now I know that it is the other way around, they enrich mine. In my work I have opportunities to create a great care environment with the co-workers, clients, families and medical personnel I work with. I try to work within a budget to help make our goals possible. As a team we provide an environment to learn from one another, residents and staff. It is one of my greatest joys at work when a resident has an 'aha' moment. They have learned something new or different in a setting that I had part in making. This is not to say there are not undesirable aspects or times of difficulty in my job, but the multitude of experiences that have changed my life far outweigh the 'less desirable' moments.
