Our pathways are not always what we expect them to be. Since graduating from pharmacy school, I completed my PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency with UNC and Avant Pharmacy and Wellness Center, served as a clinical pharmacist embedded within a primary care practice, assisted in the development of the clinical pharmacist role for Troy Medicare, and am currently educating fellow pharmacists and building programs on collaborative clinical services.These experiences have shaped me to be the pharmacist I am today, and I can say that despite the challenges that we continue to face in pharmacy, I am still inspired by the value that pharmacists bring to the team on a daily basis. Pharmacist-led clinical services can help drive optimal outcomes for patients, cost-savings for the healthcare system, improvements in population health, and promote a culture of collaboration. The value is tremendous and my passion is re-inspiring other pharmacists to take this journey with us to expand clinical opportunities for pharmacists.
