"Communication is the essence of human life."I am in my final year at Augustana College, on track to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders while also studying Psychology. I hold and am continuing to develop strong social perceptiveness, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving skills throughout my immersive clinical experience. I have experience working with clients with language, literacy, and articulation disorders as a student clinician. My wide range of experience in undergraduate clinic assignments has prepared me for graduate education in the near future. I have research experience focused on the impact of stuttering on mental health in a large population. I aim to succeed as a speech-language pathologist working in the medical field, focusing on feeding, swallowing, and newborn hearing screenings.I have developed strong teamwork, sales, and organization skills throughout my experience working as a retail associate at HomeGoods. I have emphasized these skills by focusing on working with others, managing my time working part-time while being a full-time student, and also dedicating myself to providing excellent customer service skills. My experience working as a nanny has contributed to my time management skills as I balance the different activities for each child. My organizational skills have also been enhanced through my experience as a nanny. I have enjoyed being a nanny as I am able to work with children and balance my life while working with children, which is something that will be very prominent in my future as a speech-language pathologist. I am grateful for my experiences, both my employment and education, that have allowed me to gain so many valuable skills that will contribute to my success in my future career as a speech-language pathologist.
