About Jessica Ann Nunno

Jessica has a BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She graduated in 2009. After she graduated Jessica eventually made her way to Huntsville, AL. This is where she established her business and her reputation as an artist. For over 10 years Jessica has been freelancing as an artist, however it was 4 years ago that she went to running her business full time. Jessica juried into Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment (the largest private owned art community in the south US). She has had 3 different studios at the Mill, each one bigger than the one before. She upgraded as her business grew. In 2020 when she went full time, right before the pandemic hit, she was one of a few teaching artists that stepped up locally. She started as a substitute teacher at the Huntsville Museum of Art and then quickly become a regular third party contracted teaching artist on staff. She also started working with the North Alabama Arts Education Collaborative (now known as Creative Launchpad). She made 69 tutorial videos that went out to 5 different schools each week during the first year and a half of the pandemic. She provided resources for projects that were easily assessable to work on from home. Later Jessica would join Arts Huntsville's Steering Committee to assist in the decision making to change NAAEC to Creative Launchpad and focus their art education goals in a targeted way. Now from the organization Mindpop who assisted the Steering Committee , Jessica is trained in Arts Integration and is brought into schools to partner with a teacher using a subject the students are currently learning and developing an art project. After many years of teaching for other organizations (and, she still does partner with each of these organizations), Jessica opened up her own school teaching illustration, comics, cartooning and art fundamentals. She runs her own group classes and workshops, teaches private lessons and develops tutorials, books and curriculum. Outside of her background in education, Jessica regularly vends at fine art festivals and conventions, she run an artist market of her own on behalf of an organization known as the Flying Monkey. She ran the artist market every weekend for a solid year, before it was handed over to Lowe Mill when the Flying Monkey shut down. She develops highly detailed illustrations, that tell thought provoking stories. She has illustrated books, taken on various kinds of commissions, and of course sells her original illustrations. All surrounding the concepts of character design, creature and monster design plus world building.
