Seasoned professional with a focus on political messaging and cultural change. With a deep background in law, politics, mythology, and language, I am fascinated by the role of narrative in public life and discourse. I'm also passionately committed to applying my creative and analytic capacities in service of a sustainable and equitable society.🌎 After graduating from law school in 2002, I went to work at a premier global law firm, laying a strong foundation of rigor, professionalism, and inquisitive depth. That training served me well when I moved into the sophisticated legal department of the largest asset management fund in the world. A few years later I decided to go small, launching an independent law practice serving clients ranging from conventional businesses and nonprofits to purpose-driven organizations built on emergent decentralized governance systems. My practice took me into the political sphere when I pivoted to volunteer my legal talent in the historic 2016 U.S. presidential election.Following that election, I was recruited by a specialized political consulting and data analytics firm, where I've been conducting messaging research and narrative analysis for the last 8+ years. We primarily support social advocacy campaigns and philanthropic institutions. It’s a collaborative environment and my role is multifaceted and ever-evolving. My primary focus is on bringing my knowledge of legal and cultural environments to bear, contextualizing and interpreting quantitative findings distilled from massive troves of media and communications data. It's rewarding to be part of a cross-disciplinary team generating strategic insights that lead to successful outcomes for client campaigns and causes. At the local level, I'm involved with my city's chapter of the global climate movement 350.org, and I volunteer with my state Democratic party to protect our free and fair election process here in Oregon. On the personal front, I'm the primary guardian and caregiver to a rescue greyhound named Elijah, and I can often be found accompanying him on one of our beautiful beaches or trails, doing what I can to give him his best life. He is also the main reason I prefer to do most of my work remotely, in addition to the obvious advantages of greater geographic reach and impact.I love catching up with old friends and colleagues, and I'm always open to new connections, serendipitous opportunities, and plot twists.🌱
