I was also a public face for the Science Centre, starring in Real Science, Real Fun webisodes with a coworker, and attending events around the city and province as part of street marketing activities. I also assisted in creating overarching marketing plans to keep the general marketing in line with the Science Centre's mission. With visiting exhibits, school programs, IMAX films, special programming, and special events such as Adult Science Nights, The After Dark Film Series, and fundraising events, there was always something to promote and talk about. This once yearly event raises food items for the Regina Food Bank. I solicited donations from local business to use as raffle items and prizes to increase attendance and promote generous giving. In 2013 we raised 1300 pounds of food and had more than 200 people attend.

The Saskatchewan Book Awards are a great celebration of local talent in both the publishing and authorial fields, which is why I was happy to volunteer my time for them. I used Facebook and Twitter to help raise awareness about the events surrounding the awards and the wonderful literary culture of Saskatchewan.

I assisted individual clients who were interested in, but inexperienced with social media explore their options. I clarified the differences between Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and blogs, and through open two-way dialogue learn about what exactly my client hoped to gain through becoming active in social media. I visited local restaurants, cafes, bars, food trucks, and any unique place serving food with a photographer where we photographed and ate whatever the proprietors supplied us. I wrote weekly articles about the restaurants with a drink feature on the side. I wrote conversational, fun, and positive pieces about locally owned eateries. If I was doing my job, you would be craving something in 400 words or less.

In this exciting volunteer position I helped the directors of the Zombie Prep Camp connect with Regina's zombie community. Doing everything from consulting on schedules and activities, to making information sheets and application forms for volunteers, I assisted the directors in all areas.
