As creative lead at SquirrelMaster, I advise user experience, color theory, and accessibility features on our web projects. I write and edit most of the copy on the sites. Often my skills are needed for logo services for new businesses. Its my favorite part of the job - I love helping small businesses find their first logo or their brand identity. Branding requires a lot of marketing research into each unique industry, and with my skills as a natural problem solver this can be a very fun exercise.

I maintain the Office of Student Life's Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as creating notices and marketing for the campus TV system, ensuring our followers and students are updated on events and deadlines. After Hurricane Harvey, my position took on additional responsibilities, with our events taking a backseat to helping the campus get back on its feet. During this time I learned more about the process of producing events, managing clubs, and how to delegate tasks to our work-study and staff assistants. In the time I have worked here, our Facebook following has increased by over 40% and I have learned how to leverage Facebook & Instagram Analytics. Our Instagram is the most effective way to reach our student audience barring the use of newer social media services at the moment. Our largest events returned to pre-Harvey attendance levels and our club activity had increased significantly, which was very exciting news for our campus - until COVID-19 social distancing begam. During the pandemic, our department ran more virtual events and services, which I was able to help us navigate using my familiarity with the virtual space. Since COVID restrictions are slowly rolling back, I can once again focus more on our printable items, like posters, promotional giveaways and t-shirts.In March 2020, I received the Staff Excellence Award for going beyond my ordinary duties to ensure a high standard of service for our students and community.

Graduated Summa Cum Laude on May 13th with A.A.S. in Visual Communication, specializing in graphic design. GPA: 4.0 Participated in volunteer Design-A-Thon 2016 & 2017, creating graphics and printables for charitable organizations in our community. Interviewed with the Office of Student Life while taking Portfolio class, and was able to begin as the Media Specialist as soon as I graduated.Upon completion, I simultaneously earned a certificate for Graphic Design.

The Business Office cashier desk was a culmination of years' of customer service and cashier work resulting in a wonderful job while attending college. My responsibilities included answering student concerns regarding financial aid, payouts, and payment plans, taking cash and non-cash payments for balances owed, and investigating claims regarding past due balances. I assisted with the theater department's box office several times a year. I took payments, checked names against a reservation list, and managed the countdown and deposit of funds to our Business Office safe. This position taught me how to handle volatile customers - large amounts of money owed in either direction could create a very emotional situation before it ever reached my desk. I also had to learn team problem-solving, as some issues required cross-department cooperation to fix. I worked often with Student Life, Financial Aid, Student Services, Testing and various academic counselors to help our students.

For this facility I worked in several positions leading to prep chef and occasionally night manager. I began as a server, then dishwasher, then cook assistant, then prep chef. The variety of positions taught me a lot about time management and pacing myself. By the end of my time as prep chef, I was occasionally managing the evening meal on my own. I would have help early in the day with prep, but by meal time I would run the full meal service and manage our servers. We had a tradition of speaking with our residents after each meal to get feedback about the meal and service. It taught me how to take critique well and incorporate feedback into my routine. I also managed inventory, maintained high cleanliness standards, and was given creative license with desserts and snacks to make delightful new treats for our residents (sometimes at their behest). Working at Cypress Woods really expanded my palette and cemented cookery as a lifelong favorite hobby.
