I have done volunteer work for rotary for the past 2 years, raising money for various charities and causes. I worked in the kitchen of rotary, the bar, and behind the counter– taking people’s orders. Working with rotary really built a strong connection with myself and the community.

The Reject Shop was a really good place to work whilst doing grade 12 and then after that a gap year. I built good connections with my co-workers and learnt a lot about retail and customer service through this opportunity. I started this job when I was 13 years old, my main roles were the following:Cleaning up- washing towels and aprons -sweeping, mopping and scraping wax off the floor -cleaning mirrors and the widows of the store -other miscellaneous jobs such as organizing things etc.Washing client's hair and occasionally straightening or blow-drying their hairAnswering the phone and making appointments.This job taught me a lot about responsibility, hard work and time management skills as at the time of employment I was juggling the job, high school, rehearsals for a big play I did, family commitments, and a social life which is a lot for a 13 year old.
