I begin my nursing career in the field of education. I was a clinical instructor at a certified nurse assistant school. There I also became certified to teach CPR,BLS,and first aid through the American heart Association. From there I transitioned to a float are in between to sister hospitals. I worked in MedSurg units, intensive care, emergency department, and infusion and cancer center. After five years between the hospitals I was promoted to hospital supervision. In that role I coordinated events throughout the hospital and manage schedules and call ins. If there was a trauma, code, missed med pass, or difficult IV start I was expected to manage and find a solution. I became very proficient in IV starts and blood draws. I am currently the clinical director of the Cadillac office for Advisacare Home Health. In that role I provide direct patient care, delegate services, assist in managing patient care plans and correlating care between all members of the care team. I make direct phone calls to Case Manager‘s, physicians, specialty services, and insurance companies assisting to provide services that our clients are entitled to. Above all of these tasks I am a patient advocate. Becoming a registered nurse was a fabulous career choice and I am excited to see what other opportunities this career will present.
