While coaching objectives are always wonderfully unique, clients share an intrinsic motivation to develop permanently and rapidly beyond the questions and challenges that have been holding them back. To me, the main focus in coaching is always first the client as a person. I believe deeply that learning that helps us develop as human beings turns into development that plays out in all the roles we have in life. Who is this client, and who is he or she becoming? What gives them a sense of purpose? Which balance in their days is the foundation they need for their own health and happiness, for their relationships, for their contributions to life and work? These questions are fundamentally important for achieving any coaching objective, as they ensure that the underlying growth is not only practical, but also personally meaningful. Clients choose to work with us when having a coach who is an expert in structuring and accelerating personal, professional, leader and/or leadership development is what they are looking for. They don't need advice in their business or functional expertise areas; they instead want their coach to be an expert and leading in the field of coaching.Clients are refreshed by the warmth and openness of coaching, how inviting and welcoming it feels. Each coaching session includes a focus on awareness and insights about the self, others and the world; each session includes the identification of new or refined approaches and steps towards the achievement of coaching objectives.My personal expertise and training in Executive Coaching (Jack Mezirow/Columbia University) and Developmental Leadership Coaching (Robert Kegan/Harvard) are core foundations to my appreciative, systems-focused approach to facilitating development and the achievement of coaching objectives. As a researcher-practitioner in the field, I’m currently finalizing my dissertation about new coaching pedagogies related to facilitating client transformative insight.
