OVERVIEWThe mission of the Partinglass Theatre Co. is to explore the influence of music in the telling of dramatic works, and in doing so, instill musical expression as an invaluable element of every production, as well as create an evocative experience for both the artists and the audience. Partinglass is committed to developing innovative ways to use music in traditional theatre by:1. Encouraging all members to experiment with the use and interpretation of art 2. Creating theatrical experiences which stimulate discussion and deepen the appreciation of art and music in the audience 3. Striving to evolve the perception of musical theatre 4. Collaboratively producing at least one original or adapted work featuring music as well as literature, story-telling, dance, movement, and experimental elements. HISTORYThe Partinglass Theatre Co. got its name from one of the first shows founder, Jessica Harling, created and directed. Comhcheol: Harmony was a show that was dedicated to the exploration of song and literature from Ireland. Writers James Joyce, William Butler Yeats, and Samuel Beckett were among the artists that were highlighted, as well as traditional Irish songs, including A Stor Mo Chroi, She Moved through the Faire, and The Parting Glass. Traditionally, The Parting Glass is sung as a farewell from friends and lovers. It recalls fond memories, laughs, and a welcoming to one day meet again. These attributes poinently describe the foundation of the Partinglass Theatre Co. Laughs will be had with friends and family, only to meet again at another production.Partinglass Theatre Co. is currently re-structuring with a hope to return for more shows soon.
