I am an Arbitrator (Administrative Law Judge) at the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission which is the State's administrative law court responsible for resolving legal disputes between employees and employers concerning work related injuries.My duties include presiding over trials, issuing written decisions, facilitating settlement via pre-trial conferences, reviewing and approving settlement contracts and managing a docket of over 3,000 cases. I am a former trial lawyer who specialized in catastrophic personal injury and medical malpractice cases with the the law firm of Hegarty & Hegarty.I began my career at the Cook County States Attorney’s Office where I prosecuted individuals for criminal offenses ranging from DUI and narcotics offenses to battery, rape and murder.I am an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), where I currently Chair the Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council. I am also a member of the Workers' Compensation Section Council. I frequently speak and lecture at various continuing legal education programs and contribute written articles to the ISBA.
