About Jessica Jorgenson Borchert
My PhD is in Rhetoric and Composition, with specializations in rhetoric and Writing in the Disciplines, along with professional and technical writing environments and grant writing. As a former Associate Professor at Pittsburg State University (KS), I taught courses in professional and technical writing, digital writing environments, grant writing, and courses that supported our general education requirements. I also administered our Writing Across the Curriculum program where I trained faculty new to our writing to learn courses and create professional development opportunities for faculty. In spring 2023 up to my departure in spring 2024, served as Director of Professional Writing and coordinated our English program. My research primarily focuses on the rhetorics of motherhood, with recent work on being postpartum in the academy. I'm finishing up a couple projects on how COVID-19 affected the work-life balance of academic mothers and how academic mothers use social media as a source of health support for their children/dependents. I am passionate about issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. I value all of us, and want us to develop and administer policies that create equitable conditions for diverse people to build better inclusion within our institutions.
