I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor in the state of Idaho (LMFT-8412). I am currently in the role of clinical supervisor with Allegiance Behavioral Health, providing supportive services to active military members and veterans, refugees, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and felons and those in the Idaho Department of Correction facilities. I earned my MS in Psychology through California Polytechnic State University. I am currently a doctoral candidate with Northcentral University, working toward a PhD in psychology. My dissertation focuses on specific issues related to prenatal attachment and their influence on ongoing attachment patterns.I have a great deal of expertise in mental health therapy with a focus on attachment- and trauma-related concerns in early childhood (ages 0-6). I have additional experience working with school age children, teens, transitional age youth, and adults, particularly those dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, stress, life transitions, and impulse-control. I have also spent time leading groups and working with substance use disorders, dual diagnosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders.I work from a Humanistic/Existential-Systemic approach. I believe that each of us has the capacity for self-awareness and choice. It is my job to guide clients to carry out choices and create meaning in their lives by addressing self-imposed limitations and and outside influences that are impacting their ability to grow and make healthy choices. I also believe that individuals are strongly influenced by the relationships (or systems) in their life and therefore, also in psychological health and well-being. Systemic therapy utilizes the knowledge, strength, and support of an individual's family and community to resolve issues and promote well-being.
