Jessica has worked over 8 years with individuals who struggle with eating disorder in various settings from residential to outpatient. As a BIPOC Eating Disorder Consultant and Advocate who is a specialized professional dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities in relation to eating disorders and body image issues. We consult, partner, and collaborate with BIPOC mental health therapists, dietitians, and organizations to provide comprehensive education, supervision, and training to foster a healthy relationship with food and body within the community.Our mission is to broaden awareness and understanding of eating disorders within BIPOC communities through advocacy and community involvement to dismantle stigma and barriers to treatment, fostering a more inclusive and supportive culturally competent care and environment for all.A few of the challenges observed are:-Knowing the importance of making referrals to Eating Disorder-informed providers-Providers may be having their own struggles with body image and eating based on diet culture -Burnout-When treating providers may not understand the complexities of the continuum of care and how long treatment can lastWe support by providing workshops, training, and on-going consultation.Would you like to partner with us?
