I taught 10th and 12th grade on-level and honors English Language Arts (ELA) and all-level Debate, as well as attained and launched the AP Capstone Diploma Program at Cypress Creek High School. My duties were to prepare students to pass both the reading and writing portions of the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA), in which passing was a graduation requirement. Preparation included but was not limited to fostering student-centered learning, implementing IEP/504 accommodations, and promoting standards-based learning. As a result, I was successful in helping improve many students’ reading and writing skills to the point of passing. Additionally, I co-sponsored the National Honors Society, was a member of the Professional Development team, and served on the Graduation Committee as a program designer and editor. I used Common Curriculum for all organized lesson planning and taught other teachers how to utilize and implement Common Curriculum in their classrooms as part of my Professional Development teachings.
