As a Medical Sciences Liaison Director for Bioverativ’s Southeast Division, I provided leadership and strategic direction to field MSLs. Bioverativ is a division of Sanofi Genzyme. Our work focuses on hemophilia, cold agglutinin disease and other rare blood disorders. Part of my work with Bioverativ included developing short and long-term regional medical plans for field execution in rare disease and hematology. I began my work with Upsher-Smith Laboratories as a contract MSL with inVentiv Health and was promoted to Associate Director of Medical Science Liaisons, providing leadership and strategic direction to field MSLs. Upsher-Smith Laboratories was established in 1919 to refine digitalis. Today, Upsher-Smith is part of Sawal Pharmaceutical Co., offering an array of generic and branded medications.I thrived in this role providing strategic direction to the first Upsher-Smith MSL team. I was invested in collaborative work and interfaced with Clinical Operations, Commercial Operations, and Medical Information teams. Developing MSLs and supporting their projects and innovative approaches was very satisfying to me as I value strong team performance and a positive work environment.Being a strong director is important to me, and so I volunteered to take a leadership course. Ultimately, my colleague and I joined 18 others from various organizations at the Center for Creative Leadership. In that training, my management skills were recognized early, and I was nominated CEO for successful problem solving and relationship building. That training served me well as I tackled problems and opportunities facing my team. Among my accomplishments:✑ Redefined performance metrics to align with company objectives and team goals✑ Revised training and onboarding, streamlining resources, and adding quizzes and certification presentation modules for new hires✑ Implemented best practices for sharing and cross-country group projects ✑ Formed growth plans and identified matrix team opportunities✑ Represented MSL team during commercial leadership meetings✑ Created managed-care documents for the MSL teamI inspired the team by leading by example while providing a supportive, team-oriented environment. As an MSL, I served in a few roles, most recently as a Medical Liaison for The Medical Affairs Company (TMAC), where I reported to the Director of Field Medical. TMAC provides clients with both strategic and tactical medical affairs solutions from field-based medical teams to medical affairs consulting. In this role, I worked with Pfizer, King Pharmaceuticals, and Purdue Pharma.In this position, my leadership acumen and relationship-building talents were quickly recognized. I was soon asked to become a mentor to other MSLs, followed by becoming a therapeutic area trainer. My key responsibilities in this role included identifying the Key Opinion Leaders and fostering relationships with them.I interacted with clinical, commercial, managed care, health economics, and the research and development team.I enjoyed supporting sales training at POA as a speaker and by creating a process to delegate incoming referrals for clinical trials. Those actions resulted in the development of educational opportunities for commercial colleagues and the creation of new opportunities for physician (KOL) engagement while increasing efficiencies.Truly, the most satisfying part of my job at The Medical Affairs Company was the excellent relationships I created with influencers, which allowed me to bring KOLs together with the company for research collaborations.

I was hired by The FMRT Group as a Physician Assistant and ascended to Deputy Medical Director before leaving for an MSL position.The FMRT Group screens new hires and potential hires for safety-sensitive employers when it comes to assessing medical suitability allowing them to maximize their investment post-hire. I provided health physicals and preventative education for police and firefighter applicants, including F-2 medical evaluation, spirometry, wellness assessment and, as needed, administered breathalyzer tests. Throughout exams, I maintained excellent patient-provider communication.
