We met every month for three and a half years and had guest speakers in our third year. The club had up to 40 attendees each month, which included local journalists, expat journalists and those flying in on reporting assignments from the likes of Al Jazeera and The New York Times. Due to the military coup of 2021 and ongoing oppression of journalists in Myanmar, the MFCC no longer exists.

The opportunity arose in the lead up to Myanmar's historic general elections of 2015, which ended 50 years of military rule. I also conducted training workshops for journalists at state-run newspapers in the capital city of Nay Pyi Taw and provided input on layout and design for the newspaper and its website.
