Not many people can claim to have been a professional ballerina before “leaping” into a career in cybersecurity, but my journey has been as unique as my skillset and has earned my title as "The Ballerina Turned CISO."Although I no longer wear pointe shoes to work, I have leveraged the discipline and determination I learned in the dance studio to become an accomplished, results-driven Security leader. I currently serve as a Field CISO or "vCISO" for Plano, Texas based Flair Data Systems. In my role, I act as an advisor to organizations providing guidance on all aspects of cybersecurity from developing strategies for protection and resiliency, to implementing controls to meet compliance requirements. As a board member and an experienced Chief Security Officer, I have the opportunity to work with security leaders, executives, and boards to establish a common understanding of cyber risk, implement cyber risk governance practices, and improve the decision-making process around cyber program investments. With over 25 years in the IT industry, I have held positions in new business development, data center operations, corporate training, and IT communications. This has created a unique expertise of translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences. I have served as a CISO at a Fortune 500 steel manufacturing company where I built a comprehensive security program from the ground up to protect critical systems on business and Operational Technology (OT) networks. I then assumed a position as Chief Security Officer at a fintech company in the Dallas area over cybersecurity, compliance, and physical security programs focused on product security and protecting our customers' information. I have had the privilege of being recognized for my work as a an honoree of the 2020 Dallas Business Journal’s Women in Technology Awards, and named in the "Dallas 500" most powerful business leaders in North Texas by D Magazine. I hold a B.S. in Business, HR Management, and am a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).I have been blessed with a fantastic career, but my proudest accomplishment is that of being a mom. My husband David and I have four fantastic adult children and share a love of travel, which is perfect because we have 4 kids in 4 states!
