Took the role of the Native developer, designer, web server programmer and database administrator to design the android app portion of the software for a colleague’s startup. This app shows college students the location of free food on campus, with an incentive to help them participate more in events. The app is centered on a point system that uses the kiip SDK to help them win more stuff. The software will be used with 4 schools and then will expand to 50 schools. Worked on the First Responder project with 2 other students and John Reilly as our mentor. We developed a robust android application to completely aid Fire Fighters, the app utilized SMS as its communications mechanism, Bluetooth tracking, GPS tracking and Network tracking, an Inference logic based on the fire fighter’s location, custom internal implementation of Google maps with directions. The app is highly scalable because of its Bluetooth functionality. The app is started via text message from the server and also runs in the background as a form of a service, in order to save battery. The android part was all built from scratch to aid the web application part.
