Worked on the First Responder project with 2 other students and John Reilly as our mentor. We developed a robust android application to completely aid Fire Fighters, the app utilized SMS as its communications mechanism, Bluetooth tracking, GPS tracking and Network tracking, an Inference logic based on the fire fighter’s location, custom internal implementation of Google maps with directions. The app is highly scalable because of its Bluetooth functionality. The app is started via text message from the server and also runs in the background as a form of a service, in order to save battery. The android part was all built from scratch to aid the web application part.
