I grew up on Whidbey Island, and have been fortunate to be able to experience the natural beauty of its parks and protected lands for so many years. This love and appreciation of the biodiversity we have here led me to pursue a career in ecological conservation. Having ran my own land care business with my husband for the last 12 years, I have been able to stay connected to the outdoors and share my knowledge with local residents and visitors alike. I have been able to find and test new methods of natural weed and pest prevention, remove invasive plant species, and impress upon our clients the importance of native plant species and their role in our diverse systems. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with an emphasis on ecology, evolution, and organisms. I have worked for the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife performing creel surveys along the Skagit River, collecting salmonid biological samples, educating anglers on fishing regulations, and collaborating with local Tribal communities on the river. I am currently employed by Island County Department of Natural Resources as the Watershed Planner, working side by side with our Surface Water Quality team and Lead Entity for Salmon Recovery.
