Working part-time while studying for my Master of Philosophy qualification.

Utilising particle management to aid research in the electrostatic application and performance of powder coatings. Involves the preparation, characterisation and application of the solid paint to a metal substrate to eventually undergo a crosslinking reaction creating a cured film. Presenting results in weekly meetings with senior team members to create models and deduce logical conclusions to further predict effects. Networking with different teams across site and around Europe to broaden industry knowledge. Developing new test methods to maintain and exceed technology standards.

Direct contact between peers and faculty in order to address current issues faced within the School of Chemistry. More specifically, my role pre-placement targeted investigating where the department could be more sustainable, and our overall environmental impact. This included: solvent waste, single-use plastic usage, and general operations. While on placement I have pioneered to form a new role within the SSC where I will form quarterly reports on what distance-learning may be struggling with and what they are pleased with to help improve the communications between staff and students for future years.
