As an associate in the Government Enforcement Group, I represented clients in civil and criminal matters and internal investigations involving anti-corruption laws, state consumer protection statutes, anti-kickback laws, and FDA regulations. I also counsel members of the Litigation Department on issues related to e-discovery and review management.Work highlights include: - Represented a global pharmaceutical company in an independent investigation related to allegations of corruption in China. Lead associate responsible for the design, implementation and analysis of investigations regarding specific business units and areas of risk; designed and organized system for client to discipline employees based on investigation findings; and managed the review of nearly one million documents in both English and Chinese.- Represented a global private equity firm in an enterprise-level review of its Foreign Corrupt Practices Act exposure, creating an assessment of the firm’s international activities and investments.- Represented a major medical device manufacturer and supplier in an investigation brought by various state attorneys general, alleging deceptive acts related to published medical journal articles in violation of state consumer protection statutes. - Represented a large public company in connection with DOJ and SEC insider trading investigations and securities fraud actions against employees. - Represented a major medical device manufacturer and supplier in a federal criminal investigation, and parallel state investigations, into the company’s alleged off-label marketing practices and its relationships with physician-consultants. - Counseled litigation department on matters of e-discovery, from statutory requirements and recent case law to analyzing the most cost-effective email review options (e.g., technology-assisted review); managed e-discovery vendors and contract attorney teams throughout the discovery process; and trained associates.

While seconded to TPG Global, I had the opportunity to work within the Compliance Department on a variety of topics, ranging from developing/updating policies and procedures to advising on matters of cybersecurity and data privacy to managing internal information barriers.Work highlights include: - Anti-Corruption: Revised anti-corruption and sanctions policies; conducted risk-based background checks on incoming vendors; and trained corporate card users on common red flags.- Data Privacy & Cybersecurity: Led initiative to prepare the firm for the EU General Data Protection Regulation; drafted and negotiated a data protection addendum included within new vendor contracts; and advised IT Department on matters of data privacy and cybersecurity.- E-discovery: Reviewed and tracked information barriers to ensure employees complied with firm policies; updated legal hold management system; and vetted new archival and e-discovery tool vendors.

Worked as a felony ADA in Brooklyn, NY as part of the "Partners in Prosecution" program. Represented the People of the State of New York in felony criminal prosecutions ranging from weapons and drug possession to burglary and arson. Tried two felony criminal trials to verdict. Second-seat responsibilities included conducting voir dire, making opening statements and handling direct examinations of witnesses.
