As a Career Advancement Specialist I work to place refugees from Burma in job trainings around the Twin Cities. Topic: Kinetics of Protein Complex Assembly in Cyanobacterium Circadian Clocks.•Conducted recombinant protein expression and purification of proteins KaiA, KaiB, KaiB-FLAG, WT KaiC, and KaiC mutants.•Completed in vitro partial and full oscillatory KaiABC reactions over a 12 hour time course.•Immunoprecipated KaiB*KaiC complexes from solution. Analyzed samples using SDS/PAGE to measure KaiC. phosphorylation and the rate of KaiB-Flag*KaiC complex formation. Evaluated SDS/PAGE gels using MATLAB.

Topic: Investigation of the secondary structure of the surfactant peptide KL4 in a lipid environment using FTIR spectroscopy.•Reconstituted pure 13C isotope labeled peptides in 0.1% deuterated phosphoric acid, followed by lyophilization.•Prepared lipid/peptide samples using a gas-tight Hamilton syringe. Completed lipid/peptide mixture extrusion using 100 nm polycarbonate membranes.•Conducted FTIR measurements using a water-jacketed cell with CaF2 windows and 100 µm Teflon spacer in a nitrogen purged environment.•Analyzed data using GRAMS Al Spectroscopy Software. Baseline corrected, zeroed, and normalized spectra data.
