With more than 20 years' experience communicating for social impact, I currently run content and co-creation consultancy Co-relate in Margate. We provide strategic communication and campaigning to grassroots and national organisations.Previously I led Business in the Community's (BITC) work on green skills and a just transition, ran the Ban the Box campaign fighting for fair employment opportunities for people with criminal convictions and led the good work for all programme with Joseph Rowntree Foundation. During a sabbatical, I completed an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Kent - with a focus on poetry and post-colonial studies.I've continued to explore the role the arts can play in stimulating social change and recently received funding from Arts Council England to further develop my ecopoetry and performance. I'm a founding member of Poets for the Planet, an Artful Scribe Creative Writer Against Coastal Waste and work with local literary festival Margate Bookie.I bring extensive experience in communication and co-creation on health, environment, employment and homelessness to all my work.I previously founded and ran Poached Creative, a social enterprise communications agency that put creative communications jobs within reach for marginalised people. We produced the creative behind the award-winning Buy Social campaign and ran a range of campaigns across housing, mental health and social enterprise. I also worked in communications/editorial roles at NHS Employers and Shelter.Communications: strategic communications planning, brand development, campaigns, negotiating with stakeholders, liaising with design and production, copywriting, style guides, messaging, web writing, speechwriting, news and features, reports and briefings.Influencing: connecting and working with business leaders to drive positive social change in their organisations, running BITC's Excluded Groups Taskforce, the Reducing Reoffending through Employment Network and Powering Partnerships events bringing together business and third sector organisations.Management: business and communications strategy, planning and budgets, staff development, coaching and performance management.
