The idea of ‘pressing on’ has guided me my whole career. My career has been a combination of opportunity, challenges, and growth. I started off as a ship’s engineer with a passion for being at sea. I enjoyed the equipment monitoring, maintenance planning, and at-sea problem-solving. I knew this was something I wanted to do for a long time. When the opportunity came up to do this shoreside, as a project manager, I jumped at it. The parallels between my two careers are undeniable. I leverage the same skills I used at sea and have incorporated the learnings from my MBA in my daily work. Some of my accomplishments have been:• Promoted into a role new to me, I successfully built budgeting and scheduling processes and facilitated their implementation at a startup manufacturing facility. • Quoted in a New York Times top fold front page story on equitable COVID vaccine access for people with type 1 diabetes.• Awarded a Paul Harris Fellow by my local Rotary Club for my leadership as Club President. I am energized by the people I work with and have remained close with former coworkers. Whether personal or organizational, I am motivated by a challenge.
