- Completed an individual research project on the University of Alaska Fairbanks' (UAF) “One Health” initiative. One Health is a collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary approach working at all levels (e.g. local, regional, global) to tackle emerging health threats and improve outcomes for planetary health and well-being. One Health recognizes the health of all life as connected and interdependent. It has been endorsed by the CDC, USDA, FAO, OIE, the Arctic Council, and the World Health Organization. - Assessed the implementation challenges associated with One Health initiatives in Alaska (as well as regionally and globally) and identified potential actions to overcome them. - Developed a conceptual model illustrating the need for more integrative, holistic, and place-based analyses to improve health outcomes at the human-animal-environment interface- Provided colleagues with a fresh take on One Health, why it is important, and how they can integrate this approach into their own research, no matter the discipline.
