I recently moved to Memphis, TN due to my spouse's career. I am now seeking employment as a biology teacher. I have experience teaching in both a general education and small group (6:1:1) setting.I hold two BS degrees in Animal Science and Wildlife Conservation from the University of Delaware from 2009. After many years of working in animal care, I returned to school to become a teacher. I graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College with a MED in Adolescence Biology & Students with Disabilities Generalist 7-12 in 2017. I taught as a substitute teacher for several years before seeking full-time work. I was hired as a horticulture teacher at the Villa of Hope School for the 2022-2023 school year. After a successful first year, during which I completed my NYS teacher certifications, I was asked to take on the role of a science teacher at the same school and primarily taught Living Environment during the 2022-2023 school year.I have a passion for science and increasing the scientific literacy of our society. I hope to help my students further develop their critical thinking skills and inspire them to take a life-long interest in the "how" and "why" of the biological world around us!In addition to my professional work in teaching and animal care, I also work as an unpaid staff member of two annual conventions. My roles in these events is in event planning (venue selection, scheduling, creating event policies, coordinating with other departments) and video production (camera operation, video switching, and video editing). This experience has assisted me in the educational setting by honing my organizational and planning skills, as well as enabling me to produce video content for remote learning when necessary.
