The position has encompassed the following major functions:1. Providing leadership at regional and national level to assess, identify and address current nutrition workforce capacity and nutritional status in Pacific Island Countries and Territories, identifying gaps and appropriate actions. 2. Providing distance and in person technical and strategic support for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of country and multi-country nutrition programs. Aligning them with global and national health/NCD and nutrition-related strategies and best practice in regards to evidence based nutrition and strategic health communication. In this role was responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of three programs:1) Khana Kakana- an innovative cookbook designed to promote local, easily accessible and simple to prepare foods by highlighting their nutritional benefits to instil pride in local produce and promote healthy eating. Khana Kakana won second in the world for best Health and Nutrition Cookbook at the 2015 Gourmand Cookbook Awards.
