Attended Nova Southeastern University for undergraduate school and obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Business Management. As an undergrad I was presented with the opportunity to participate in a pharmacy early immersion program at the NSU College of Pharmacy and it really sparked my interest in the career. I am happy to now be apart of the Nova Southeastern University four-year program to obtain my doctorate degree in pharmacy. I am now a 3rd year Pharm.D. student and in my time here I have excelled academically leading me to be on the Chancellors List in Fall 2021, president's List in Winter 2022 and Fall 2022, and the Dean's List in Winter 2023. I have also got the experience to work in a community and a hospital pharmacy through my IPPE rotations. These rotations have been eye opening and so fulfilling. I cant wait until APPE rotations next year and then to become a practicing pharmacist.

During this hospital rotation I was able to learn directly from a neonatology specialty pharmacist. This rotation exposed me to many aspects of hospital pharmacy including interprofessional communication. In the NICU interprofessional relationships are very important and make up a strong health care team. attending rounds and meetings allowed me to see the pharmacist role in the interprofessional team and learn about the knowledge that is contributed to the team. I was able to learn a lot about TPNs during this rotation and my preceptor challenged me daily to review and make needed changes to TPNs for the babies I was following. I also presented multiple patients daily to my preceptor and built up to ten patients a day. Doing this allowed me to learn how to review patients charts and make clinical decisions based off of the information provided through physical exams and lab results. At the end of the rotation, I was able to present my final project which was a journal club on Melatonin use in Infants in the ICU.

During this rotation I was able to learn directly from the pharmacy manager and the assistant pharmacy manager which exposed me to the management side of being a pharmacist. Also, during this rotation I was exposed to a lot of patient education on prescription and OTC medications. The experience at Publix has taught me a lot about counseling and has made me more prescriptions and running them through insurance. Doing this exposed me to many medications a day and allowed me to learn a lot because whenever I didn't know a medication I would look it up. Lastly, this rotation exposed me a great amount to vaccinations. I was about to give 50+ vaccinations during this block and educate the patients on side effects and when to come back for the 2nd dose of vaccines that required it.

During this hospital rotation I was able to learn directly from the Pharmacy Clinical Manager as well as the Operations Manager. I worked on projects including a literature review on IV iron, multiple drug information questions, and an operational crash cart project. In addition, I was able to shadow in the ER with the specialty pharmacist. During this time I learned how to complete medication reconciliations, perform patient education, learned the operations during a stroke code, and how to draw up seizure medications.
