Using both in vitro and in vivo models, engaged in a novel research program to evaluate the role of sirtuin-1 activity in oxidant-mediated signaling pathways involved in the development of cardiovascular disease resulting from chronic conditions such as hypertension and metabolic dysfunction.

Taught a dynamic lab-based course designed to teach students the basics of cell culture, with the goal of having them work comfortably in the hood with basic cell culture protocols for suspension and adherent cells. This course incorporates hands-on experience with current techniques and background information to enable the students to integrate easily into a lab setting.

Committee made up of post-docs, faculty and administrative staff tasked to implement university-wide changes that recognize and support the needs of postdoctoral researchers. Topics include instituting a standardized hiring process, analyzing and implementing benefits solutions, and supporting career development.

Lead small groups comprised of graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and new faculty in 2-hour sessions exploring ethical issues. Topics include Scientific Misconduct, Research Collaboration, and Publication. Exercises include identifying stakeholders, managing interpersonal conflict, and utilizing appropriate channels of problem solving within the university.

Studied the differential roles of A Disintegrin and Metalloprotease (ADAM)-9 isoforms in breast cancer cell migration and invasion using cell biology and molecular biology techniques.

Studied Neurofibromatosis Type II, utilizing cell culture and in vivo model systems.
