My post-graduate career began in genetic research, but it didn’t take long to realize that my passion didn’t lie in lab work. Seeking more connection with people, I transitioned into outdoor education, where I thrived leading students on adventures like backpacking and rock climbing. It was a period of personal growth, filled with rewarding experiences. Yet, as life evolved, I felt the call to settle down. I moved back to Massachusetts, started a family, and shifted my career focus to healthcare. After 10 years in healthcare, I found myself burnt out, juggling the pressures of single motherhood and a demanding schedule that began before sunrise. My health was suffering and it became clear that something needed to change. During a particularly challenging year, I immersed myself in studying emotional intelligence and leadership. What I discovered was eye-opening: the power of emotionally intelligent leadership to transform workplace teams and foster resilience. I knew I wanted to be part of that transformation!That journey, plus the onset of the 2020 Pandemic, led me to launch my first business, DignityWorks, where I invited leaders to embrace their inherent worth—their “dignity”—and lead from a place of authenticity. I built the business with collaboration, bringing together a diversity of contributors to create meaningful workshops and programs.In 2021, I had the opportunity to apprentice with a former colleague from the Family Business Center, allowing me to expand my expertise and obtain certification in Everything DiSC. With her guidance, I refined my approach to leadership and workplace culture development, laying the groundwork for what would later become JKirley Collective.Today, through JKirley Collective, I help visionary leaders and teams create sustainable, inclusive, and thriving workplace cultures. My work is centered on fostering leadership grounded in dignity, integrity, and emotional intelligence—qualities that lead to lasting change and help prevent burnout.I’m passionate about supporting leaders in building workplaces where people can grow and succeed.
