It serves as the trial court for misdemeanors and infractions as well as small claims and civil law suits involving amounts up to $100,000.Large numbers of cases are filed in District Court every year. In the last 10 years, an average of 60 percent of our cases were traffic-related offenses. Traffic offenses generally affect a person’s driving privileges and are cyclical in nature, so it is necessary that proceedings are fair and expeditious.To further assist the public, the court developed alternative programs such as Therapeutic Specialty Court programs, Driver’s License Restoration program and Night Court.
