I managed the London Urban Forest community engagement and volunteer programme. This involved working in partnership with 9 London Borough Authorities and the GLA to deliver over 40 tree planting projects in parks, housing estates and other public spaces. I strongly advocated for a two phase community consultation model for each project, providing much valued space for residents to ask questions, raise concerns and feed into proposals. I focused my team's delivery around engaging people who were local to project sites, alongside recruiting volunteers from our considerable and enthusiastic support base.During my time in this role I oversaw the engagement of over 15,000 adults and children through activities such as volunteer planting days, school workshops, resident meetings, trainings and celebration events.I was also the Designated Safeguarding Officer, delivering training for 45 members of staff throughout the year. Youth and Environment Europe is a platform led by people under the age of 30 who live in Europe and are passionate about environmental protection. I joined in 2013 through a British grassroots group called Look East Wild Earth and worked for a year at the YEE office in Prague.
