👋 Hi! My name is Jessica Barker.🏙 I am a Nashville local passionate about storytelling.🖋 In my current role as a Digital Content Producer for WKRN, I am learning so much about best digital storytelling practices and growing in my confidence creating multimedia content. I'm working with a talented team optimizing audience engagement across various social media platforms, pushing breaking news and editing our homepage for the benefit of our audience. As a freelance researcher on The Row at CNN, I grew in my capabilities as a researcher under a fast-paced, high-energy environment with an incredible team. While a strategy consultant, I improved social media outreach for Fortune 500 companies as part of a talented team. I have also served as a RAICES Canopy intern, utilizing both English and Spanish to connect migrants to resources nationwide and grew the scope of RAICES' outreach capabilities. In 2022, after working my way up, I completed my term as Editor in Chief of The Vanderbilt Hustler where I oversaw the 2021-2022 editorial board to create daily content online and produce a weekly newsletter for the Vanderbilt community.🎓 I graduated from Vanderbilt University in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in a self-designed interdisciplinary area of study called Language, Media & Policy Studies; with highest honors in Spanish; and with a minor in Language Sciences. I also attended the 2024 Lede Program for insights on how to use data to tell better stories.🖥 I hope to continue using the power of storytelling to help people connect. I hope to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment on a great team.🌲 In my free time, you can find me baking and gardening!💡 I am fluent in reading, writing and speaking Spanish. I am familiar with AP style and have years of SEO experience, including utilizing Moz. I also have experience working with Playwright, Selenium, ENPS, Akta, iNews, LexisNexis, AirTable, Trello, Figma, Datawrapper, Flourish, QGIS and more. I also have proven experience generating and curating content on various social media platforms including LinkedIn, X, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram and I am able to develop unique social media strategies for each platform.
