Over the summer for 2018, I shadowed and assisted two audiologists at the UNLV School of Medicine, Dept. of Otolaryngology clinic. I was able to program implantable devices with software from Cochlear Americas and conduct appropriate evaluations for both the geriatric and pediatric populations. In addition, I had the opportunity to observe electrophysiological testing, such as ABR, ECochG, and cVEMP.

Pocatello, Idaho Area

As the graduate research assistant for the ISU audiology department, I gathered normative data for wideband acoustic immittance (WAI) in a research study funded by the National Institutes of Health. Some of my duties included performing pure-tone, immittance, and DPOAE testing on patients aged 6 months to 55 years. I was also expected to maintain Excel spreadsheet models for data organization.

Casper, Wyoming Area

During a summer externship at a local private practice, I performed basic audiometic evaluations for veterans and private-pay patients while counseling those patients about their test results. I also completed medical reports and received feedback from an experienced, practicing audiologist.
