Over the summer for 2018, I shadowed and assisted two audiologists at the UNLV School of Medicine, Dept. of Otolaryngology clinic. I was able to program implantable devices with software from Cochlear Americas and conduct appropriate evaluations for both the geriatric and pediatric populations. As the graduate research assistant for the ISU audiology department, I gathered normative data for wideband acoustic immittance (WAI) in a research study funded by the National Institutes of Health. Some of my duties included performing pure-tone, immittance, and DPOAE testing on patients aged 6 months to 55 years. I was also expected to maintain Excel.

During a summer externship at a local private practice, I performed basic audiometic evaluations for veterans and private-pay patients while counseling those patients about their test results. I also completed medical reports and received feedback from an experienced, practicing audiologist.
