Responsible for the organization and management of the Special Olympics sports development program in Southern Communities (San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and part of Los Angeles County) to support athlete growth and retention. Managed and supported a team that provides sports & program development, including Unified Champion Schools and other athlete programming, coaches training, and Games Management Teams for their given geography.. Areas of focus included providing support and mentorship to direct reports in identified counties by creating consistency, accountability and shared knowledge.

Responsible for achieving annual programming growth goals, including the number of athletes served through the development of new programs, partnerships and volunteer engagement. Oversee and manage sports programming, training, and competitions for the region. Served over 6,000 athletes (1,000 community-based, and 5,000 school based) through 42 local programs and 112 school partners, utilizing and managing volunteer leaders. Responsible for development, planning and implementation of SOSC’s Schools Program, Unified Champion Schools initiatives, family initiatives, health initiatives and Young Athletes within Region. Provide strategic direction, leadership, and technical support for Unified Champion Schools to school/district partners.

Oversaw and managed sports & program development, including Unified Champion Schools and other athlete programming, coaches training, and the Games Management Teams for the Northern Division. Areas of focus included providing support and mentorship to direct reports in identified counties as well as enhancing school partnership initiatives throughout this footprint.

Developed operational plans for receiving 500,000+ fans during the week of the Games. Identified policies and procedures for this newly developed Functional Area within the Special Olympics movement, using volunteer management components and practices. Interfaced with key functional areas to develop operational readiness amongst staff and volunteers. Developed and tracked self-service registration for Fans in the Stands through the use of online software.

Responsible for the design, planning and implementation of a comprehensive volunteer program including recruitment, registration, training, scheduling, uniforms, credentialing and recognition for 10,000 volunteers. Successfully interfaced with all departments in identifying and validating volunteer needs, inclusive of volunteer requirements and job descriptions. Developed policies and procedures for volunteer check-in, taking into consideration volunteer attrition and trends. Coordinated with Games Partners and Community Service Groups to identify opportunities for volunteer engagement. Developed plan to ensure volunteers were prepared through volunteer general orientation and job specific training in advance of the 2014 USA Games, including receiving their uniforms and credentials in advance of their shift(s). Conducted volunteer background screening on volunteers in compliance with Special Olympics, Inc. Screening Policies. Also oversaw Spectator Services and was part of the Credentialing Team.

Responsible for the design, planning and implementation of Convention shuttle transportation at 150+ official hotels. Successfully interfaced with varius departments in identifying needs and levels of service. Produced comprehensive Hotel Transportation Operations Plan.

Coordinated and lead in planning, managing and implementation of the following areas: Awards Ceremonies, Athlete Leadership Programs, Credentialing (Accreditation), Radio Communications, Airport Operations, Timing/Scoring & Results (integration) as well as assisting with Sports Operations/Venue Management and Volunteer Services. Developed plans using volunteer workforces, providing training and guidance to volunteers as appropriate.

Coordinated and assisted all GOC Functional Areas in planning, managing and implementing all non-competition functions at the Floor Hockey Competition Venue. Responsible for managing efficient, safe and effective integrated operations at the Floor Hockey Competition Venue.
