As a Pre-press technician my job duties include:Handle emails from CSR's containing client artworkSend out ZIP files with all files pertaining to POWork customer files to ensure files are printable, this includes: -rasterization of large objects & backgrounds within files to ensure file size remains below 30MB -each file has 1/8" of bleed outside of die-line -colors are in CMYK for printing -all text that is intended to be black is 1-color black and not 4-color -make sure barcodes are scannable -create UV coating layer and ensure that UV layer is a spot color and is turned to .01% ensuring that the none of the UV layer shows up on press -create proofs for all printable files as well as proofs for UV layers -ensure there are no hidden objects within the files -ensure the wire frame/outline is clean and has not hidden textPrint SPOT UV/GLOSS UV films for coating department to ensure they make screens for operatorsCreate 1UP die-lines for our department to ensure they have the 1UP version of the entire die-line for file buildingWork with a Kodak 48" plate setter to create plates for press operatorsGather all files for printing that are approved and create digital layouts using Phoenix software creating .tif & .cip files for the plate setter and pressUse Pilot software to send .tif & .cip files via trap to plate setter and pressCreate layout folders for all jobs to ensure organization of layouts in case problems on press arise and allows technicians tp create SPOT UV/GLOSS UV films with finished layout
