I currently serve as Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at 7-ELEVEN, Inc. (SEI). Prior to this role, I served as EVP Innovation, Technology, and Experience and also as SVP Chief Growth Officer at 7-ELEVEN for 24 months, after returning to SEI from retiring in June 2018. From 2018 - 2021, I led several private ventures developing and launching consumer products, including development and launch of ZOA Energy Drink for Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson. Prior to several private ventures, I served as Executive Vice-President and Chief Merchandising Officer of 7-ELEVEN, Inc., 2010 - 2018, leading its Marketing, Digital/Social, Merchandising, 7-Ventures, Logistics, and Manufacturing divisions, while serving on its Executive Committee. Prior to 7-Eleven, I served in a variety of roles, including CEO of a highly profitable retail chain acquired by 7-ELEVEN, CFO/Deputy COO of the U.S. Treasury Department, and operating roles in the Grocery Industry, Management Consulting, and U.S. Military. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace) from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. I am fluent in Spanish and have significant international travel on four continents.

As Chief Merchandising Officer, Jesus developed leaders and people while motivating his teams to understand the changing needs of customers and make the experiences, products, assortments, stores, and communications easier for customers to get and enjoy. Under his leadership, 7-ELEVEN drove development of hundreds of first to market, exclusive, national and regional branded products, “premiumized” Private Brand products and achieved the first commercial retail paid drone delivery to residential customers. His leadership drove sustained same store sales and gross profit dollar growth, while gaining market share in major categories against all channels (Food, Drug, Mass and Dollar). -
President & CeoGci, Llc May 2005 - Feb 2010Jesus acquired 21 low-performing stores, turned around the brand and operation, and then grew same store sales from $49 Million to $70 Million (12% CAGR) 2007-2009, while increasing EBITDA 67% in the same period. The chain was then acquired by 7-ELEVEN in early 2010 and Jesus became SVP Merchandising and Logistics at 7-Eleven. This acquisition delivered the highest return for Ironwood Capital’s Vintage 2006 Mezzanine Fund with an IRR of 22%.
