Jesús Aparicio is Full Professor of Microbiology and an expert in biosynthesis and regulation of the production of antibiotics and other bioactive compounds such as antitumor or immunosuppressants.PhD by the University of Oviedo, he received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award, after which he worked for four years at the University of Cambridge specializing in polyketide biosynthesis.Dr. Aparicio has published more than 70 articles in international journals of high quality, among which are Science, Nature Structural Biology, Proccedings of the National Academy of Science USA, Chemistry & Biology, Metabolic Engineering, Journal of Biological Chemistry, etc. H index 32 (JCR) 31 (Scopus) 35 (Google scholar). i10 index = 53. Awarded 6 periods of six-year of excellence research and one of technological knowledge transfer from the national committee for the assessment of the research action (CNEAI).Dr. Aparicio has filed 5 patents, and has supervised 13 PhD theses, 4 Master theses, and 22 Degree theses. He has participated in more than twenty research projects, national and international, being a principal investigator of 11 of them, and continuously since 1999.He has been granted with five periods of six years for research.He has been a scientific evaluator for the Spanish Research Agency (AEI-ANEP), evaluator for international agencies [Austrian Science Fund, Czech Science Foundation, FONCYT Argentina, Technology Foundation STW Netherlands; Scientific evaluator and member of the EEA Grants Biotechnology panel - Collaborative Research Projects Romania-Norway], member of the FPU 2017 Scholarship Evaluation Technical Committee, member of the FPU 2018 technical evaluation committee for complementary scholarships, member of the 2019 Technical Evaluation Committee for the mobility programme Madariaga, project evaluator for the autonomous communities of Extremadura and Asturias.He has been teaching at the University of León for more than 20 years.
